Kim offers caring, professional and confidential counseling services for children, teens and adults. She believes that people grow and heal when provided with knowledge, encouragement and the tools needed to make changes or cope with life stress and/or loss. She works with her clients to develop the best plan for the treatment, using evidenced-based practices (research supported). Kim is invested and motivated to assist individuals with instilling hope for improving their life and making positive changes.
Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Therapist in EMDR, as well as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. She has worked in the mental/behavioral health care fields for over 20 years in a variety of clinical settings with much of her experience focusing on expressive art, coping skills, play, recreation, health and wellness. Kim has background as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, as well as an Expressive Therapist. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Kansas in 1989 and her Masters in Counseling from Webster University in 2000. She is a member of American Counseling Association and the EMDR International Association.
Kim utilizes person-centered therapy, EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, CBT- cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT – dialectical behavioral therapy , play therapy, expressive art, and supportive therapy. Her practices focuses on issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, developmental disorders, parenting, addiction, eating disorders, behavior problems, stress, infertility/adoption, grief and loss, learning difficulties and family issues (including divorce and blended families). Kim works with children as young as 18 months old through teenagers, as well as adults. She also provides clinical supervision for counselors seeking licensure.
Kim accepts the following insurance plans: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Meritain, Preferred Health Professionals, GEHA and Multiplan. If you have a different insurance plan, she does a discounted rate. This self-pay rate is $100 for a 50 minute session. She can provide you with a “super bill” that will allow you to submit your claim to your insurance plan for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company for further information. You can also use your flexible spending account and also submit this to your insurance company independently.
